Techie post

Am thinking of switching to HaloScan for comments here. Anyone have any experience/comments they want to share with me before I take the plunge?

I've used Haloscan from the very beginning. The downside is that you can't get emailed comments with the free version. The upside is that I had absolutely no spam comments, there's no word verification required, and it's fully customizable.

I prefer it to what you get from Blogger. Regarding the emailed comments, it's still a pain if you're the type who emails everyone who comments. You can't just hit "reply" as you'll be replying to the "notification service". You can go into your account and reply from there but that is still fussy.

The biggest reason why I like it is because I can get to the commenters blog with one click in the "comments".

Those things make it sound great, but warning! I know of one knitblogger who recently ditched Haloscan (Jenn at Adventures of a Knitting Spaz if I am remembering correctly) because she was having problems with it. Also, I am in the Handknit Holidays KAL, which is using Haloscan, and for some reason it won't let me leave a comment! I can't even get to the screen to see the other comments. Boo-hoo!

I've used haloscan for years. I upgraded to the pay account ($12 for a lifetime-extremely reasonable) so I could customize and have better management over them. I've never had any trouble, other than the occasional few hours of haloscan being down, but that happens to everyone. No spam, no hassle and that's more than I can say for any of the others I've tried.
